Have you ever been so bored you thought you could die?
You've wandered around the house, eaten every snack in the house, completed that computer game on hard difficulty... and you're still really bored.
You know though that eventually it will end, eventually you can go to sleep tonight, or your friends will come round.
But what if it never ended?
What if you, the eternal emperor, lord of stars beyond counting, master of the universe and secret keeper, have done everything, been everywhere, seen everything. Drunk yourself stupid and you just want to sleep forever, to let it go and rest.
But you can't.
You're immortal, it doesn't matter what you do to yourself, or others do to you, you can't die.
In the beginning it was the ultimate gift, to live forever in a thirty year old man's body... now it's the ultimate curse.
So you built a time machine, researched it from scratch, deciding to go back, to see what things were like in the distant past.
You catapault yourself backwards in time, back from the sixty second century to the early twenty first century... the period you can just about remember from your own misty past. But it all went wrong. The machine threw you out into someone's garden.
You're now here, trapped in the twenty first century, trapped once more, just in the body of a nineteen year old boy.
(Ok, so here's the plot, my character, the Eternal Emperor, mad genius, demigod and ruler of half the universe has been trapped in the twenty first century, and he's just literally appeared in your character's back garden in a flash of light... your character is a geek who likes to paint, and he looks after the Emperor and teaches him about his world, whilst the Emperor gets his time machine in order, inevitable romance blossoms etc, any takers?)
